Media Literacy
The ability to access, analyze, evaluate and create media in a variety of forms.

Romans 12:2
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.

We live in a fast paced society packed with media. Wherever we go, advertisments, movies, TV shows, music, commercials, magazines, books, billboards and so much more, scream in our faces. Advertisers shout "Buy our product and your life's problems will be solved!" Both visual and audial noise fill our senses and we become confused and lost in the crowds of consumers, sucked into the materialistic lifestyle, and decieved by the tricks of the media.

Magazines contain images of models with the "perfect" body. Movies contain scenes of violence that look "cool". Hollywood stars promote the latest makeup or iPod. Music videos promote sexuality to the extreme.

What we dont' realize is that it's all fake, doctored up, unrealistic

Constructed.

It's no wonder girls are starving themselves to meet these unrealistic standards. It's no wonder kids bring guns to school. It's no wonder society goes out and buys these products they don't NEED. It's no wonder teen pregnancies and abortions are off the charts.

Because we're taught it's all COOL and without CONSEQUENCE.
